Revitalize Your Life: A 5-Day Reset for Women Over 40
Written on
Chapter 1: Embracing Change at 40
Turning 40 can sometimes trigger a profound identity shift. It’s common to feel the need for a reset during such transformative moments.
When life becomes overwhelming, taking a step back to release unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and relationships is crucial. Anything that contributes to your inner chaos needs to be let go! If you've been experiencing similar feelings, you're not alone. This 4-day Bounce Back Reset is a program I previously shared with my coaching clients, and I'm excited to offer it to you now. This reset consists of exercises, journaling prompts, and affirmations designed to guide you through a rejuvenating experience. If you’re in need of a journal, consider checking out this option on Amazon.
Let’s dive in!
Day 1: Release Guilt
We’ll kick off by identifying sources of guilt in your life and finding ways to let it go. Many of us carry guilt over not meeting our own expectations. Sound familiar? Accepting your current reality instead of fixating on where you think you should be opens up space for personal growth.
Journal Prompt: Where do I believe I should be right now? Where am I actually? What has hindered my progress? Are my expectations influenced by family, friends, or societal pressures? Are these desires genuinely mine?
Daily Challenge: After listing your perceived expectations, either tear it up or burn it (safely, near water). This symbolizes your release. Next, create a new list detailing where you wish to be in the next 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years. What dreams reside in your heart? Lastly, review your list of obstacles and practice forgiveness for yourself and others involved. You can express: "I forgive you for what happened, and I let you go." Finish by disposing of this list as a final act of release.
Affirmations: I am worthy. I am enough. My dreams are important. I release guilt. Guilt no longer restricts me.
Day 2: Declutter Your Space
Clearing out your physical space can invigorate your energy and foster a fresh start. How much clutter do you have that no longer serves you? Are there items that remind you of negative experiences or people from the past?
Daily Challenge: Go through your home and eliminate five unnecessary items (bonus points for more!). Discard, donate, or sell these items to create space for new energy. Remember, your home reflects your inner state. What does your current environment reveal about how you feel?
Journal Prompt: List 3-5 things you’re grateful for today, including how they positively impact your emotions.
Affirmations: I relish in clearing my space. Letting go of old possessions comes easily to me. I feel liberated when I release what no longer serves me.
Day 3: Dismantling Stress and Anxiety
To ease feelings of stress and anxiety, examine your relationships and boundaries. Are there individuals in your life who no longer support your well-being? Is your job a source of daily anxiety? Have you taken on too much, leaving no time for self-care?
Journal Prompt: What situations or people drain my energy and evoke stress, overwhelm, or anxiety? Why do I allow these influences in my life? Where is there an imbalance, and where do I need to set better boundaries?
Daily Challenge: Write a letter to someone who has drained your energy. Share your feelings and the impact they’ve had on you. Once you’ve expressed everything, tear up the letter and affirm: “I no longer need to hold on to this.” Reflect on how you feel afterward.
Affirmations: I choose peace and tranquility. Establishing boundaries is an act of self-love. Those meant to stay in my life will respect my boundaries.
Day 4: Transforming Your Inner and Outer Self
Our external appearance often mirrors our internal state. To uplift your mood, treat yourself to something special related to your appearance. Whether it’s doing your makeup, styling your hair, or wearing a favorite outfit—even if you don’t have plans—these small acts can reset your energy.
Journal Prompt: Who is the woman I aspire to be? What is her style? How does she carry herself daily? Why have I neglected my self-care?
Daily Challenge: Clean out old underwear, worn-out socks, and clothes you no longer wear. Let go of what doesn’t reflect your desired self. Dress up for yourself, then treat yourself to a solo outing—be it dinner, a café, or a walk in the park.
Affirmations: I am a confident woman. I love feeling comfortable in my own skin. Self-care is an expression of love. I deserve to feel beautiful and supported.
Utilize these four days as a launching pad for your reset. You don’t have to complete all four days consecutively; focus on one each week if that feels more manageable. As long as you are taking steps forward, you are making progress.
I'd love to hear in the comments which day resonated with you the most!
With love,
Christina
