Navigating the Creative Cosmos: Embracing the Depths of Depression

Chapter 1: The Isolation of Depression
Depression can feel like a desolate planet, a cold and empty space where rushing back to normalcy merely sets you up for another fall. From the age of one to seventeen, I thrived in the comforting confines of my Childhood Space Station, spending my time creating comics and crafting stories, blissfully free from responsibilities.
However, upon graduating from college and venturing into the world as a freelance web designer, I found myself adrift in the vastness of the Creatoverse, desperately searching for inspiration. My journey led me to crash-land on the barren Planet of Depression.
In that desolate place, I hastily avoided the necessary repairs and instead fueled my escape with coffee. But the harder I tried to flee from Depression, the more it seemed to latch onto me. Whether through substances, gaming, or social media, the gravitational pull of Depression was inescapable.
The Revelation: Embracing the Experience
After crash-landing on Planet Depression about 3,472 times, I’ve come to realize that perhaps a change in approach is necessary. Society often insists that Depression is something to escape from as quickly as possible. Yet, as I found myself grounded once more, a peculiar thought crossed my mind:
“What if I embraced Depression instead?”
Over the next few days, I ceased my attempts to work or seek inspiration. Instead, I wandered through the emptiness and allowed myself to simply be. On Day Three, an idea sparked within me — what if I transformed my mundane creativity guides into sci-fi narratives?
This epiphany illuminated the fact that Depression is not an insurmountable barrier; rather, it is a detour in the Creatoverse, offering a moment to pause and recalibrate my mental and emotional state for future success — a much-needed break before careening into a black hole!
Remember, don’t launch off from Planet Depression until you’ve addressed what caused your crash in the first place.
